Symptom:
Print job hangs or fails with error after attempting to print PDF downloaded from Teachers Pay Teachers
Facts:
- Document is PDF downloaded from Teachers pay Teachers.
- A few pages do print, but the job fails with an error code printed on the final page.
- ERROR: undefined, OFFENDING COMMAND: New, STACK: , /AAAAAAB+ *Times, /FontName
- Konica Minolta 654e, Mac Driver Version 5.2.0
Discussion:
For some reason, many of the documents that come from Teachers pay Teachers contain elements that cause Postscript errors on our printers. This is probably due to some embedded font that our printers can't handle.
Solution:
An easy workaround is to print the document as an image. The following directions assume that the user has Adobe Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Pro installed.
- Open the document in Adobe Acrobat.
- Select File->Print.
- Click on the Advanced button.
- Select Print As Image.
- Click OK.
- Click Print.
- Be patient. This method may take a few minutes for file conversion and processing.
Other:
If you have sent other unsuccessful jobs to the printer, your print cue may be backlogged, preventing any new jobs from getting to the printer. To clear your print cue, select settings->Printers&Scanners, then "Open Print Cue" for the appropriate printer. Click the cancel ("x") button for all unfinished print jobs then try the instructions above.
The print device itself may hang because of one of these files. If this happens, cancelling the print job through your print cue will not resolve the problem. You will need to cancel the job through the printer's web interface or restart the print device by cycling the power switch on the physical device.
